Camo Slippers
Well as I lay around after my back surgery, I thank God for my Old Friend Camo Slippers.  I have been wearing the heck out of these things because I don't have to bend over to put them on.  My day consists of getting out a bed and making it to the couch.  Somewhere in between my Camo Slippers end up on my feet.  The biggest bummer is that I won't be hunting at all this season.  In fact my ice-fishing season is in question.  Talk about a kick in the pants.  When they first told me I couldn't hunt after my surgery I got real low.  Probably the lowest I have ever been.  I haven't yet wrapped my head around not hunting this year after I spent so much time practicing this summer and fall.

Oooof Daaaa

Gosh it is fall already.  I'm going crazy laying around in a Hospital Bed lately wondering how in the heck my back ever got as bad as it has.  It is crazy the amount of drugs, shots, and adjustments have been done to relieve the pain in my back and all I can think of is "How the heck am I going to get out hunting?"
Sheepskin Boots
Don't get me wrong. I have been thinking about the store a little bit. Kate has a sweet sale going on right now at the store having to do with a Shipping deal on Sheepskin Moccasins, Boots, and Slippers.  If you are thinking about buying any sheepskin this fall, now would be the time to act on that special.  The fall leaves are beautifully colored golden, red, yellow, and brown and I can tell when someone stops in the store that there is something special about buying Minnetonka Moccasins in the Northwoods during the fall.
I could say my focus has been on my classes.  I've been working really hard to help my classes learn more than they ever have before and then this stupid back acts up and I miss a week of school.  By the time I get back into my classroom, my students are going to be ready to kill me.  I don't think they really care if I am broken or not, they are just a little worried that I'm getting more time away from the classroom then they are and they don't see that as fair.
Missed Opportunities....
My biggest concern is hunting.  I watch out my hospital window and imagine giant 10 pointers walking through the parking lot.  I imagine all the big dear in the county are right now taking a siesta next to my stands and blinds and there is nothing I can do about it.  I 'm concerned that I will be able to get out at all this year.  On top of that my wife, 2 daughters, and 2 sons all want me to hunt with them and only them.  Well you know how well that will work out.  Am I whining?? heck yaaaa!  I have been shooting my bow religiously for the past 3 months and now the season is here and I'm too banged up to get up in my tree stands.  Such is life.  You take the good with the bad.  Sometimes the bad can be a little overwhelming.

Fall is right around the corner

Well her is comes!  Fall it seems crazy to think of fall shopping after going through that heat wave but it is right around the corner.  Don't forget to stock up your kiddies on Minnetonka Moccasins and Peace Moccasins for the school year.   As a school teacher, I watch more and more kids choose moccasins as their daily footwear.  I recommend a durable fringe boot for the girls and a boat mocc or slippers for the boys.

That was then, this is now.

We recently had an order for some Indian Headdresses for a birthday party out in New York City.  The buyer wanted these headdresses by 8:00 a.m. the next morning which got me thinking about how many Indian Headdresses have come and gone through our doors.
The picture on the left was taken of our son Cody when he was in 3rd grade.  Now he is 6'4", a senior in High School, heading off to University of Wisconsin Madison on a Naval ROTC.  What a difference a few years make.

I remember 10 years ago how my wife thought it was crazy to put a $10 item on the internet.  After all who would want to pay more for the shipping then the actual item.  All I can say is that you would be surprised.  Our headresses made by the Cherokee Indians are not easy to find out there in the real world so people turn to Arrow Gift Shop to find those costume items they are looking for.  We have been selling headdresses, coonskin caps, toy bows and arrows, and much more for a long time and everytime we sell one it makes me smile!

Whew! Its been busy.

Whoa slow down.  It has been crazy busy lately.  As a school teacher, I've been trying to keep up with Governor Walker's "Shoot from the hip" Bills, and I'm nervous.  As a track coach I've been trying to get our athletes ready for the season.  As a business man, I've been slacking off!  We have a lot of product coming in to our store right now.  You are already aware of the New Minnetonka Sandals that came in a month ago.  We also got our "Ton of Guns" in from Parris Manufacturing.  I say "Ton of Guns" because we usually get in about 2000 lbs of wooden toy guns in this time of the year.  Well, they are here and they are still popular.  If you are looking for a particular style of wooden gun, now is the time to get one while our supplies last.  We also got in a a new line of Snoozie Slippers.  We don't have them on the web yet, but we are working on it.  We have had a lot of our other products come in and the store is looking full again.  Our Toy room is fully stocked.

Ice Castle is Finished

Well the Eagle River Ice Castle is finished.  You can see a video of it here:  http://www.keyc.com/node/46030
This is probably one of the greatest projects that Eagle River does each and every winter.  The fire department has to wait until the ice is the right thickness on Silver Lake before they can get the 2500 ice blocks used for making the castle.  They finished the castle in time for Friday Night Thunder at the Eagle River Championship snowmobile derby.  Hopefully lots of people stop to visit the Ice Castle and then visit the Arrow Gift Shop for some Minnetonka Moccasins and Peace Moccasins.  What would be really neat is if some of the snowmobile ladies stopped in to look at our Mariana Jewelry

Shack is out but no fish

That anticipated time of the year is hear when I can finally hang up my bow and get serious about ice fishing. We got the shack out last weekend, and we have drilled a lot of holes, but the walleye action is pretty darn slow.&nbsp; I don't know what to make of it yet.&nbsp; Maybe they just aren't hungry or maybe the weather isn't right yet.&nbsp; I do know that I'm still enjoying our shack up here is Eagle River, Wisconsin and I think my kids are loving it too.&nbsp;<img src="http://theblogbooster.com/pixel.gif" width="0" height="0" style="border-top-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; border-width: initial; border-color: initial; " alt="" />

Peace Moccasins Updated

Well we finally got more of our Peace Moccasins updated on our new webpage www.moccasinsandgifts.com.  It takes us awhile to update our webpages sometimes.  We just wanted to remind everyone that although Minnetonka Moccasin does not allow us to ship our Minnetonka Moccasins overseas, we are allowed to ship our Peace Moccasins overseas.  Many of our overseas customers were disappointed by Minnetonka's decision.  As a company, they have accounts overseas and thought that our shipments interfered with these accounts.  Many of the Peace Moccasins are very similar to some of the Minnetonka styles.  All we are saying, is give peace a chance - - Lenon.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Well the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel posted a nice article about Eagle River here:  http://www.jsonline.com/features/travel/112674534.html. It is always nice when your town is recognized for its activity.  Eagle River has a population of only 1500 people but it seems like we have a major event going on every week of the year.  Coming up we have our World Championship Snowmobile Derby.  I can literally see the track from my classroom window and Northland Pines High School.  When the derby is in town, you can can hear the whine of the racing sleds anywhere in the Eagle River Area.

One thing I would like to see in our town as a business owner is one of the those hotels with the water parks built in.  It seems like our community is ready for one of those giant structures, I just hope that when they put one in it is somewhere downtown.  There seems to be a lot of unused real estate in the downtown Eagle River area.  I think people like to spend time in downtown Eagle River, but it seems like our town keeps wanting to move the people out of the downtown area.  A water park would be a perfect place for the thousands of winter visitors to stay and it would probably be full during Derby Weekend.  This would help make our downtown area a more vibrant area and in-turn our community would feel the benefits of having stores that aren't closed during the winter months.  Finally a place to shop for the Eagle River resident.  Our visitors love buying Minnetonka Moccasins  but they need more diversity to really enjoy the downtown experience

Go Wisconsin

Well yesterday was tough to watch.  The Big Ten really struggled, but the Badger TCU game was exciting.  I'm a little nervous about our Packers today.  With the Bucs win over the Saints, we need a win something fierce.  I hope all of the loyal Green Bay fans are cheering them on today against those dreaded Bears because we need a win to make the playoffs.

Shipping Internationally

Well we were just looking at our sales and we are down a significant percentage for the month of December.  We were a little frustrated with this so we sent a survey to our customers.  Many of our customers were frustrated that we don't ship overseas anymore.  That is not true.  We are only unable to ship Minnetonka Moccasins overseas.  Minnetonka has set up accounts in Europe and around the world.  To prevent us from competing with those accounts Minnetonka has asked us not to ship outside the US.  Even to Canada.  Essentially if we would have continued to ship Minnetonka Moccasins outside the U.S., they could take away our account and that would set us back substantially.

Tina Peace Moccasins
To help out our customers outside the U.S., we picked up another line very similar to Minnetonka.  In fact, this company was started by former employees of Minnetonka.  The line is called Peace MoccasinsPeace Moccasins are a high quality shoe and they are very good about keeping us stocked when we run out.  If you love Minnetonkas but are outside the U.S., I recommend Peace Moccasins.

New Years at Eagle Waters

I love Eagle Waters Resort in Eagle River, Wisconsin.  We got there often in the winter and the summer.  Our favorite time to go is when Diamond Pepper is playing.  Last night we did have a little bit of bad luck.  It was New Years Eve and we had reservations at 8:30.  We weren't seated until 9:30 and we didn't get our food until 11:30.  Lesson learned--We don't think we will be heading back to Eagle Waters on New Years Eve.

I still recommend going to Eagle Waters whenever you can--except New Years Eve.  They have a really neat patio that they freeze in the winter and it becomes an ice skating rink.  Very Norman Rockwell.  Most people just slide around on their boots.
